Weight Training for Women is the Key to Enduring Fitness
Problems such as weight gain, lower back pain or stiff joints, are often blamed on aging. Women in particular tend to shrug off the weight gain problem as something that can’t be avoided. This however is often only an excuse as it can be prevented or at least minimised. Weight training for women is the main key to maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle.
Going to a gym regularly however can be a problem for various reasons such as too far, too expensive, too time consuming, too daunting, etc. If that is the case, consider doing your training at home. There are some excellent packages on the market that are not expensive and that offer full multigym training capabilities. My own favourite in this category is the TRX Resistance Training System which I have now been using for almost a year. The system itself is very easy to install anywhere in your home, either inside or outside. There is also an excellent series of instructional DVDs and book to guide you from beginners level right through to heavy military style training for those who like a challenge.
According to research done by the Mayo Clinic, well-rounded weight training routines that include aerobic activity, strength training and stretching can help offset the effects of aging. Various studies indicate that a regular full body workout can lower the risks of chronic health problems such as diabetes and heart disease. It can boost the immune system, alleviate fatigue and decrease risk of osteoporosis and related fracture problems in older women. Women of any age can start training, even if they’ve never considered getting active. However, the earlier the training starts the better. It’s easier to prevent aging problems such as flabby arms than trying to correct the problem later in life. Starting a new fitness program is often not a problem but sticking with it is another story. If that is you, ask one or more of your friends to join you. Using a portable gym in a bag such as the TRX Resistance Training System will allow you to train together, change the scenery from time to time and encourage each other to stick with it.
To get the maximum benefits from weight training for women it needs to include a variety of activities. The main once are
- Cardio Activity
- Strength Training
- Flexibility Training
The importance of including these activities in all well rounded weight training routines is that they are inter-related. A regular multigym workout that includes all of these activities should be part of everyone’s fitness program. The advantage of the TRX Resistance Training System is that it’s functionality and user guides cover all of these areas. No need for multiple pieces of equipment. I would however like to stress the point made earlier that is most important for women to get involved sooner rather than later as it can help in the prevention of age related diseases and keep problems such as flabby arms and sagging bottoms at bay. Don’t say Weight Training for Women is not for me. Have a go and see what it can do for you.
Please Note: I highly recommended that people who lead a mainly sedentary life check with their medical practitioner before starting a new training program, particularly anyone who has a chronic medical condition.
